Oh the glory that is Instagram! It's led me to so many funky accounts and websites. My latest fascination is with Atomic Folk Art. A family business that seems to specialize in re-purposing items they find into artwork that they describe as "intergalactic trinkets", "apocalyptic artifacts", and "space trade souvenirs". I want to take a moment of silence to appreciate their colorful, descriptive language. ***silence***
I mentioned the Oddities and Curiosities Expo that travels to various cities showcasing unique artwork, taxidermy, sideshow performances and more. Atomic Folk Art is one of their active vendors. Check out their website here and if you happen to make it to an Oddities expo let me know! Send me pics! Send me presents! Just kidding. No presents necessary but I would be curious to know what the artwork is like in real life. I'm loving what I see on their website.
Below are some images from their site of pieces that are for sale.

Taxidermy classes, anyone?
Today on quirky finds: Taxidermy classes with the Oddities and Curiosities Expo.
While perusing Instagram, I found a very cool account called odditiesandcuriositiesexpo which led me to their website. Looks like there are expos in cities across the country offering a sideshow, suspension, vendors selling all sorts of unusual goodies, and taxidermy classes.
The taxidermy classes are two hours long and by the time you've completed the course you'll have your very own taxidermied (made up word alert) mouse. If you're concerned about how these poor mice came to pass, don't worry they assure the mice have been "ethically sourced and died of natural causes".
If this is something you're interested in here is the link for the taxidermy classes.
Other than travel if you're not living in a city they visit, the expo entry is fairly inexpensive with general admission at $10 and VIP entry at $20. Kids under 12 get in free. Taxidermy classes are $100.
If you can't go to an expo but still like to look at unusual specimens, check them out their Instagram account -> odditiesandcuriositiesexpo.
